Daily Routines
Beginning of the Day - Students will be picked up in the gym and brought into the classroom at 7:45. They should hang up their belongings on their hook, put the take home folder in their cubby after turning in homework, and begin their morning work. Morning work is very important, as it is either extra practice on difficult concepts we have learned in class, or a warm-up activity preparing us for a lesson that day. We will eat breakfast while we complete our morning work. Students arriving after 8:10 will be marked tardy and may not receive breakfast.
End of the Day - Students are responsible for cleaning up their area before dismissal. Dismissal begins at 3:25 for bussers and curbside students. All other students will be dismissed at 3:45.
Turning in Work - Students are responsible for turning in all homework assignments and make-up work into the Finished Work Basket. I will not go through folders looking for assignments that have not been turned in. I will notify parents of missing work. Students will have up to one week to submit homework before it is a zero grade.
Restroom Breaks - The class will take one restroom break in the morning and one restroom break in the afternoon. Students who need to use the restroom outside of those times will need to use the signal, wait for the teacher's okay, and then go to the restroom. Students will not be dismissed to the bathroom during instruction unless it is an absolute emergency. They must wait until independent work time.
Paper Headings - All assignments should be headed with the name, date, and student number. We will practice doing this in class. Papers turned in without a name may result in zero credit.
Emergency Procedures - Safety procedures will be reviewed in class and school-wide fire, tornado, and lock-down drills will be conducted throughout the school year. It is critical to practice these procedures to ensure everyone’s safety in the event of an actual emergency. These drills are taken very seriously for the safety of our students. Any student misbehaving during these drills will lose privileges for the remainder of the day.
