MEET THE TEACHERS AT PACE
Hello! My name is Mrs. Phillips, and I am your child’s second grade teacher. I am excited to teach second grade and I am looking forward to working with you and your child this school year.
This is my third year teaching second grade and my twelfth year of teaching. I taught Kindergarten for six years and then last year, I also taught first grade for one year. I have earned a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Oakland University and a Masters in Reading from Saginaw Valley State University. I plan to make this a rewarding and challenging year for my students.
I have two children ages six and eight. My youngest son Colin will be entering second grade and my eldest son will be entering forth grade. As a parent myself, I believe that in order to teach my students that I must first gain their trust and build a strong relationship. I believe that each student deserves to be treated fairly and respected at all times. I work hard to model the golden rule to my students….Treat people the way you want to be treated. We will also be learning about the seven habits to bring out the leader in us all.
As an educator, I truly believe that every child has the ability to succeed. This year I will incorporate a variety of instructional approaches in efforts to meet the needs of every child. With your support, I hope to encourage your child to have a love for learning and the courage to take risks. I love the quote “ Mistakes are the evidence of effort.” No one is perfect, and most of the times it takes a few tries before we get something. I want my students to feel safe to take I believe strongly in parent-teacher communication. I am available by appointment whenever you have needs or concerns. You can reach me at the school at (248) 569-1060. I will return calls during non-teaching times. The best way to reach me is email at [email protected] . I look forward to a fantastic year!
